Hi, so I cracked into some ancient old tobacco the other day but sadly the foil seal wasn't up to much so it's dry and brittle, but still smells amazing and tasted braw in the pipe. Can it be rehydrated and if so any tips on how would be greatly received. Ta

You can do this a couple of ways, you can place the tobacco in an airtight container and pop a boveda pack in for a few days or you can put it in a tub and place a clean damp cloth over the top of it, you will need to use distilled water on the cloth. There are few YouTube videos that are available too.Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment as you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it!

Some tobacco can be smoked pretty well dry as the Belgians do with their Semois. If it's a tobacco that relied heavily on it's oils then it's probably past it's best anyway.
If it smokes well as is then why bother hydrating, if it does not then you have nothing to lose trying any of these methods. Just keep the process to a minimum time wise, pipe tobacco isnt supposed to be 60-70% like cigars.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14
