Is there anything I need to do prior to smoking for the first time? Or is the pipe all ready to go? I was also wondering about the filter - Is it recommended to use it? Thanks
How are you getting along with your pipe? Are you enjoying pipe smoking?
Marc
Sorry Marc, I forgot to reply to this. So far I've only had one bowl of the old dark fired which I enjoyed (excellent recommendation cj121 !).
The only problem I had was keeping it lit. Probably need some more practice at packing
Pleased to discover that you enjoyed your first bowl of pipe tobacco. Hope that it is the start of a pleasant adventure into the world of pipe smoking.
Marc
I've really been enjoying my pipe smoking and i've decided i'd like to buy my first "proper" pipe.
I've been having a browse and some of the pipes that caught my eye are:
* Peterson - Dracula Collection
* Peterson - Jekyll & Hyde Collection
* Peterson - Iceberg Collection
* Rattrays - Old Gowrie
* Jolly Roger
Would any of the pipes from the above ranges be a good choice as a step up from the cob ?
Thanks
I can't help you never having smoked any of these pipes. Still, I look forward to discovering which pipe you decide to purchase and hearing more about how well you think it smokes.
Good luck, Marc
I haven't any of the pipes mentioned, I do have a couple of Peterson systems though that are very good smokers. I have been looking at the Rattray pipes as well and may get myself one in the near future. BTW nothing wrong with a cob

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment as you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it!
