My first pipe

Hi guys, i have just 'aquired' a pipe off my father-in-law.....against my wifes wishes (we are both in trouble!!) I need tobacco recommendations please.



My wife thinks pipes (and cigars for that matter) smell like dogs sh#t, she loves animals so i'm thinking.....is there a tobacco that has the aroma of wet dog or cat that i could buy so she won't notice i'm smoking it??

Seriously i would like something with a sweet aroma please, thanks

Benson and hedges ready rubbed.


Then you have the never ending choice of loose tobacco's weighed by the ounce.

Thanks CJ, not sure what brand it is, it aint no Jolly Roger that's for sure! Lol, i can't make out the mark but it will do to satisfy my curiosity.......and pee the wife off at the same time 😀😆

More help needed,

When i got this it still had part burnt tobacco in the bowl, i have emptied it out but i suspect it had been there for many years, how would i go about giving it a damn good clean?? Are there any chemicals i can use?

Any tips or tricks would be most welcome

You can salt treat it, there are plenty of videos on YouTube. Rattrays bagpipers dream has a nice room note to it, my wife says it smells a bit like Jack Daniels and Coke, it tastes nice too but does burn quite hot, so take small sips. That's a nice looking pipe too.
