That's some wildly inaccurate weighing. However, RDF and Bob's chocolate are both pretty tasty!

Wowzers quite a short pour.... I hope they simply cough an apology & positive gesture rather than 'accurate at the time of packaging' etc as thats a lot of moisture to loose etc etc... They look good though!

Bad form right? That's you're standard 3g packers tax I suppose. Although the 2nd one is meant to be 25g as well but they must've mistakenly thought it was 50g. I have packed a bowl in anticipation of better weather!

Yup someone's are, or they're skimming. Mine are fine. They tried to blame my scales, suggested I was after money back. I'm not & their service sucks.

That's really poor service, I don't often weigh any loose baccy I buy, but when I have I have always found it to be a little bit over.

Came across this on a forum would pipe smokers agree that age and keep their tobacco in jars.


I actually like the Kilners better because they appear to stack better and appear to have wider mouths than my Ball jars.
This holds about 3 ounces of tobacco, on average, depending on the blend. I pack it in the jar fairly tight and leave about 1/4 inch (2 cm) of air at the top (this air space is crucial for the microbacterial process to work aging the blend).
I prefer the 8 ounce/.25L jars over the larger ones because I can age everything and if I choose to open a jar (aged or not), I only have a few ounces and not half a pound or more to deal with.
I don't like the "bail type" jars because the red rubber rings will dry and crack eventually (after a number of years in the cellar). That sucks when you open a long aged bail top and the tobacco has dried up because the rubber ring deteriorated but was in the cellar for years unnoticed. Not a big deal, though, if you use it for tobacco in your current rotation and replacement rubber rings are inexpensive to replace.

I think for long term ageing the jars are heated before packing to activate the pop seal lid

For all sorts of stuff we use kilner and le parfait jars (the rubber seal type). the le parfait seals are good for a number of years even with jam, marmalde or even pickled onions or chutneys in, despite the corrosive vinegar. kilner jars as [MENTION=13408081]smokey joe[/MENTION] said, need heat for the seal to take, but screw down tight very well. The ring seal works with the simple pressure of the clip, but also gets tighter with heat too. Not sure how you'd heat a jar with tobacco in without damaging the contents mind you....

Yes, it was in the wot u smokin' thread but I posted in here for no reason in particular, sorry CJ! I think you were saying that you've had varying qualities of RDF. It certainly has a good dose of nicotine [emoji471]
