Hi Marc, will update you when I can although I can't promise much insight!
So I just smoked my first bowl went for the Virginia - JF Germains - Medium Flake.
No problems packing or lighting as far as I know, although I did seem to have to tamp it down quite a bit and the stem did seem did to full of quite a lot moisture so I ran the pipe cleaner down there say 2/3 times in the half hour it took me to smoke.
Flavours I'd say honey/hay quite sweet very pleasent to compare it to cigars maybe a cross between a PLPC and a RyJ SC?

That looks to me to be just about the best starter kit anyone could get for trying out pipe smoking at a reasonable cost and with a good selection of pipe tobacco styles - Glynn certainly knows his stuff.
In terms of moisture Joey that is very normal, and you normally wouldn't notice without a see-through stem. I tend to only run a cleaner down it mid-smoke if it starts gurgling like the bubble pipes you used to have as a kid! If a tobacco seems very moist though it can be useful just to leave a bowlful out for 20 or 30 minutes to dry off slightly before you pack in our pipe."The socialism I believe in is everyone working for each other, everyone having a share of the rewards. Some Dunhills. Dunhill Standard is a good introduction. Nightcap is great but has very pronounced Latakia if that's up your alley. I happen to love the Latakia.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14
