Got a few more toys today...

Brand new Peterson's Killarney Red pipe that I won for ?28 on eBay and a brass pipe/cigar ashtray that my other half picked up for me on eBay as a surprise

I need to give the ashtray a good polish to bring it up nice & shiny. The pipe is amazing - seems a compact pipe, but smokes way cooler than any of my other pipes. Only strange this is that the draw is very light as it doesn't have a filter like my other pipes, so I'm finding it harder to smoke for some reason. The draw is too easy or something. But other than that, I'm loving it.

      Nice pipe... and ashtray.
Just a note on filters, which you may be aware of, but just in case you don't - you should change your filter every new bowl of tobacco. Using the se filter will cause your smoke to taste harsh and also build up a battery of carcinogens. You can smoke a pipe designed for filters without a filter. It will probs taste better too.
In terms of an easy draw you'll get used to it. It's a bit like getting into another car and finding the clutch is so much lighter.

My other pipes have the little metal 'filters', which I think aren't actually filters, but just designed to cool the smoke or something?

The only pipe I have with a proper filter is the corn cob and I took filter out after the first smoke and never replaced it.

As for the draw, I'm half way through this bowl now and I am slowly getting used to the lighter draw. I'm really enjoying the cooler smoke with this pipe too

Any ideas on where to get those little rubber mouthpiece protectors that I mentioned in an earlier post?

Very nice! Personally I take the filters out of my pipes.

Yeah, as I was getting through a bowl with the Peterson last night, I was getting more and more used to the draw. I couldn't believe how cool it stayed the whole way through. It's good to see that the premium you pay for their pipes isn't just for the brand - they are a better quality pipe that smoke better than the cheaper stuff.

A good site I use us GQ tobacco. Run by Glen Quelch. He used to work at gauntleys but now out on his own. He will recommend new baccy to try. Worth a look. He also has a great range of stock.

Your not the first to say this, by a long shot.

I would like to meet him, I am interested in what goes into considering a blend.
