  • Help with Identification?

I got these 3 here today, would appreciate with identification and maybe some questions :
    IMG-20130409-00451.jpg

-Top one seems to be a Brigham. Does anyone know what that piece of wood is used for in the centre? That's new to me...
-Centre has this small metal thing instead of just a straight hole. Is that more or less efficient and all? They have a small staw sized hole in it. Seems quite minute...
-Bottom one seems quite normal. It has an ingrave on it that says: KAYWOODIE/ Flame Grain/ Imported Briar. It also says Chesterfield on the other side.

All of these are Estate pipes. Need to kinda clean these up too
Any and all help is appreciated!!

I think the Brigham has a wooden filter type thing.

The "Stinger" in no.2 is another fanglement which seldom does much for the experience best to remove if possible. Looks like not possible in that one.

The bottom one is a copy of a peterson system. Probably nice enough.

Scrape out the cake inside and give them a damn good clean with high grade alcohol on the pipe cleaners.

Ah well are there any downsides to the "stinger?"
What would you personally pay for any of these 3 pipes? Not that I want to sell them, I just wanna know how much of a deal i got here

Also, is that all you need to clean them? Rinse some alcohol through it and some pipe cleaners as well??

I've found any obstructions in the way of the smoke stream are better removed but if you can't remove it then no problems just puff away. These pipes look to be about ?10 each ish.

I'd use a paper towel with alchohol to clean the inside of the bowl after scraping out. Then dip the pipe cleaners in alcohol and run them through until they come out clean. Pay a lot of attention to the shank this is where gunge hides.

To be honest I find the best pipes to smoke are corn cobs. Briar pipes simply aren't as good.
