More rum flavoured tobacco here. Odd thing about this pipe is that if I don't wedge it in the 9mm filter moves about when I take a puff. It rises up the stem with 1 or 2mm of travel so it clonks, having the effect of making me take shorter puffs. Probably a 2nd/reject as I got it from ebay.
90%of my pipes take filters and with the majority if I draw quickly they will 'clunk' as they are sucked against the stem. However a slow steady draw of the pipe whilst smoking stops this and sips on a pipe result in a far more enjoyable and satisfying smoke than chuffing like Ivor the engine.
Enjoyed a bowl of Gawith Black & Brown in my cob today while cleaning my guns and waterproofing some boots, and conditioning the leather on a gun slip, belt and other biys n bobs.... End of the season so everything put away in good order... Chores just fly by with a decent bowl on the go!

A little bit of Durbar in the little Irish Anse yesterday and some Rum Twist in the Pete earlier. It's been quite a while since I chopped some twist and it packs a punch[emoji1420][emoji95]
I have not had a cigar in about a week (if a Monte club whilst being furious at the bin not having been collected doesn't count). I've been sampling all my pipes with various tobaccos mostly trying out the upside down self filling technique.
This evening was Kendal No.6 Aromatic Shag into a Parker Zulu. The bowl/chimney has depth so I sort of ended up "double shotted".
It burns well, but a little too well if not tamped a bit. But the opening puffing, as you feel air flowing through the tobacco, is definitely a tasty step up. On the down side, higher oxygen to tobacco ratio means either high speed very quick smoking with mild danger of overheating, or very careful maintenance to avoid it going out.
It's just another technique after all, admittedly nifty, but some baccies are just better roughed and stuffed, or musket balled, or thrice-smooshed...
