Okay I'll stop.
Today I'm catching up with Fortitude whilst smoking some black and brown in the churchwarden. Subtle caramel goodness.

That's something I also remember from somewhere in the dim past! I honestly am having a sensory memory, the wafting smell of pipe smoke. I've not tried that way, having been "stuff it thricely" with most of late. This will be experimented with tomorrow morning. 👍
P.S. Experiment № 1 complete, well shredded roll cake deluxe filling an Ozark Maple cob using this method. It's nifty how the pipe does fill. I resisted tamping down too hard and it burned quite well, if a little hot (probably due to higher airflow). I think the trick with this method is rubbing the tobacco just so, it being the right moisture, and smoking at the right rate. The actual filling like this is the easy bit!Last edited by the pondering moose; 30-01-2017, 06:05 PM.

More rum flavoured tobacco here. Odd thing about this pipe is that if I don't wedge it in the 9mm filter moves about when I take a puff. It rises up the stem with 1 or 2mm of travel so it clonks, having the effect of making me take shorter puffs. Probably a 2nd/reject as I got it from ebay.
