Looking great, I will need to get some of my favorites mixes in Convent Garden in February that I will be there to pick some.... I will stash some to share in June with the PIPE monthly members.... I can smell it right now... hahahahhaa
Got this Pete 309 that I picked up from ebay back today after having a new stem fitted along with a little blakemar polo bulldog, so having some cob plug to give it a try

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment as you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it!
Mac Baren Roll cake deluxe in a Dr. Plumb, left drying out for a bit.
P.S. I've no idea what I did differently (ie hopelessly wrong) this time, but I kept getting mouthfuls of disgusting liquid out of the pipe, which is a 9mm filter, so the liquid was passing through activated charcoal. I gave up, emptied the pipe and discovered the sizeable dottle was not particularly wet. There was no gurgling, just "fluid". Neither pipe nor tobacco have done this before; though I have read Mac Baren is known to bite if you overdo it (which I don't think I was doing).
Any of my more expert BotB have any observations to avoid a repeat?

I've only had this when out in the cold... I assumed condensation in the stem.... Might be wrong. Recently someone was talking to about wet smoking..., baccy moist from the pack. I've noticed lots of BOTB seem to leave their tobacco to air/ dry after cutting n rubbing esp with flake & plug. I've done the same with american style aro's which are sopping wet otherwise.... I dont know how/ if folk can smoke them direct from the jar/ pack.... More skilful packers & puffers than me if they can.

Hmm, I figured I'd covered most of these things: dried out tobacco; careful packing. I definitely see what you mean about wet aromatics, they're so squidgy.
After letting the pipe cool for 18 hours. I disassembled and found the charcoal filter to be a moist mess. I am wondering if just a bit of slightly enthusiastic puffing condensed in the filter and I ended up sucking on filter juice.
