You should start sooner rather than later. There is research to suggest that pipe smokers live longer than non smokers. The new charity auction: http://www.ukcigarforums.com/showthr...lighter-raffle

the days of "pipes are for old guys (preferably with slippers)" are gone... just go on youtube and check out the community (pipefriendCHS is a pretty cool customer in my opinion!)
By the way, do I get some kudos for prompting Deano into creating this sub-forum!! Yayy to me"By the cigars they smoke, and the composers they love, ye shall know the texture of men's souls." John Galsworthy
"A good Cuban cigar closes the door to the vulgarities of the world." Franz Liszt
"The most futile and disastrous day seems well spent when it is reviewed through the blue, fragrant smoke of a Havana Cigar." Evelyn Waugh
"Remember, commander, no cigars before launch." a Cuban doctor's orders to an astronaut at Cape Canaveral

Hmmm, you guys might be selling this to me. Not sure what my wife's going to say though, she thinks she's married someone old before his time as it is!
Can I suggest a sticky glossary? There seems to be a lot of pipe specific terminology from types of pipe to cuts and strains of tobacco and it would be helpful to have a single point of reference for these things."Achieving life is not the equivalent of avoiding death." Ayn Rand

I'm sure I have a link to an extensive glossary somewhere, just don't have the time at the moment?

In the Beginning!
Muchachos, I actually started out with a pipe many moons ago when a brujo from State of Mind, Mexico offered me a bag of tobacco in exchange for a favor (a common practice among native North American Indians). The herb smelled so sweet that I couldn't resist sneaking a pipe from Pappy Coro's collection and giving it a try. I was hooked!
Years later, as I was firing up a bowl in So. California, a friend asked why I bothered with a pipe (and all the required associated paraphernalia) when I could smoke a cigar - neat and simple. Well, amigos, since the day, I haven't looked back.
So I will be following this forum with great interest.
