Oliva Serie O - Tubos Robusto

As I have menioned previously, I am very new to cigars so I didn't want to post anything in the review section as comparatively I know nothing. I have however been reading numerous reviews with a lot of interest.

Earlier this evening I had a Oliva Serie O Tubo Robusto. As the weather was by far better than yesterday I sat outside at my friend's house and smoked it there. It got going nice and easy and it wasn't a bad smoke with the burn being pretty much even right down to the last inch or so where it needed a slight touch up. The ash only dropped off of it's own accord three times throughout the whole smoke, so I felt that it held pretty well.

Initially, after lighting and a good half way into the first third I was feeling a little dissapointed because it really didn't have a lot of character, it just tasted of strong but bland tobacco and not much else. However I then started to sense peppery and leathery flavours before it started to include slight hazelnut/brazil nut undertones which passed after a while. This was all fine by me as I rather enjoy bitter tasting things (coffee should onl ever be drunk black for example, and sugar is a big no!).

As much as I enjoyed it, compared to the Montecristo Petit Tubo I had last Friday it's profile seemed a little one dimensional and was certainly less subtle.

So there are my thoughts. It doesn't sound like a load of old codswallop does it?

Well of course it does... it is a review after all. I regularly refer to the Cigar Monologues, where I house all my reviews, as a big, steaming pile of horse manure. Though that is as much to do with my literary abilities, which are best compared to those of an illiterate, inebriated Texan, as with anything else.

Joking aside, good first review with some helpful descriptions (especially for a self-proclaimed newbie). Nice use of contextual referencing too (such as your penchant for naked coffee). Here's hoping for some more.

I've always found the Series `G` & `O` a little under whelming, however I can recommend the Serie `V` especially the Torpedo and the Lancero with all of my heart, they are a fantastic smoke.

I've tried the tubed serie O Toro recently....It's taste profile is very close to what you describe of the robusto, I found mine a bit stronger and past the half point it started stinging my tongue a bit, mind you I dont smoke fast or anything like that.

It wasnt a bad cigar but at this price range I've got much better choices than this. I think i might give the V series a go after all the good reviews I read.

I loved the V double robusto I smoked a few weeks back and have another one in the humi waiting to be warmed up. A very tasty cigar with bucket loads of smoke.

Wait for this little scoop, the same company that makes them also sells them in disguise as Nica Libre Potencias.

Not sure if there's a good supply in UK but the NLP' run abut 2/3rd the cost of the V

try a G series fell in love with those as soon as i smelt it. tho never been a fan of box pressed cigars but was converted after that smoke
