Now don't get me wrong i'm not Anti Cuban but i choose not to smoke CC's for two reason's. Firstly the price. I'm just an ordinary guy who works for the government and i just cannot afford to smoke these, although once in a while is a lovely treat. Secondly I find cubans pretty predictable. there are so many NC's out there that can give Cubans a run for their Money such as

Arturo Fuente Anejo Reserva No. 55,
Padron Series 1926 No. 2 Belicoso Maduro
Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Maduro Torpedo
    Padr?n 1964 Anniversary Series Imperial
    Aurora Preferido Emerald

As i really enjoy my Stogies i do like exploring the massive world of NC's there is so much more out there than Cubans and to be honest a lot of it is hit and miss.
My monthly Order usually consists on a Bundle of everyday smokes a box of something and a large premium sampler.
Are there any other NC only smokers out there and what have you got in your humidor right now, am always looking for new ideas when placing my next order.
I do hope this can be a constructive thread so Cuban only smokers please bear an open mind when replying in this thread.
Here a vid a quite like of Doc from Stogie Fresh with his Humidor stuffed with mostly non Cubans

I tend to smoke about a 50/50 mix of CC's and NC's and I have a few favourites of each always in my humidor.
Currently, my humi has some Oliva V Double Robustos, some Oliva Connecticut Reserve (which I think are ace, but you might find them a little on the light side, strength-wise), a few Fuente Hemingway Short Stories, and a couple of Serie O and G sticks.

I have become a bit of an Oliva fanboy if i'm honest, but they're great, consistant smokes. The Fuente Short Stories are as good as Trini Reyes and Party Shorts, IMHO. They might even be as good as a Cohiba Secreto with a bit of time. Maybe.

I did have my eye on the Short Story's Perfectos are my Favourite vitola. May have to pick up one of those series V samplers and check those out.

            Short Story Vs. Signature.

Being from the other side of the pond (SoM, Mx), I've had the pleasure to enjoy both NCs and CC over many decades. I agree with the list you presented in your first post muchacho, with the exception of the RP Old World Reserve. ..I've had a few of these and I'm yet to be impressed. I do enjoy some of the RP line, especially those produced under the Indian Tabac label.

Umm. Now, regarding the Hemingway Short Story, let me suggest that you bump it up a notch and go for the Signature - I've smoked several of both and the Short Stories I've tried lately left me wanting.

But what the hell do I know???

Names Perro, el Perro, and I've been smoking fine puros and stogies since 1939!

I replied to another thread about NCs that are my faves/go to. Have a gander at that list. I am unsure how to cross-link lists here so a search against my user name will probably turn it up.

I am a big Oliva fan...but hate the Cain Nubs.
Have a taste of the Tatuajes, Don Pepin, La Aroma de Cuba,
La Flors, My Fathers just for starters...

Opus X, Anejos, God of Fires, Padron, are just as pricey..if not more than some of the decent priced (and tasting) Cubans out there.

There are soooo man NC makers out there, its hard to determine which are the bad ones....and there are nasty bad ones out there.

                  Hi Guys,
                  Just a quick butt in!
I live out on the Fens & to be honest, have a really nice stash of regular CC's to last me a good while but would like to try some of the NC's you mention. I only travel now for holidays so don't get the chance to pick up these varieties anywhere.
Can anyone suggest where (website) I can buy a good dose of these as singles. Apologies to the 'died in the wool CC fraternity' but if I've not tried them I can't in all fairness be objective.( Besides that, I do like the extravagant bands! )
                  Cheers,
                  Puff

I'm with your man. Lump on Tatuaje's, especially brown labels. And most of the rest of Pepin Garcia's stuff. Had a lovely Blue Label DPG yesterday.

Today's RP Decade was crap, ruined by a loose draw.

                            RP and Oliva

Anything from Oliva or Rocky Patel seems to be a decent smoke among the NC. I have tried about a dozen different brands now and those two seem to be consistant and good smokes.

Umm. If you can get your hands on a Davidoff 100th Anniversary, go for it!

Although it was only produced in 2006, you might be able to still find 'em. It came in two formats - Robusto and Diademas Finas.

Highly recommended by don TJ and the Coros!
