I would have thought number 5 would have been in number 2's place as these are the premium line. Not surprised with the opus x being top though, that's all I heard the yanks ask for when I visited the stores the last went
I'm surprised Davidoff is so far down the list. Given they are big big producers too. Thought they'd be higher up the US demand. Looks like some producers could benefit from scaling up!
Pinched from another forum, top producers.
1. Drew Estate (70 M cigars +)
2. Habanos (45-55M currently)
3. Davidoff (40-50M)
4. Oliva (40M)
5. Plasencia (35 M)
6. A. Fuente (30M)
7. Rocky Patel (20 M)
8. Padron (3.5-5M)

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Interesting stats. Thanks for sharing.
I still think there’s a huge warehouse in Havana with millions of cigars just waiting for the US embargo to be lifted.
Tbh I feel like a lot of American cigar enthusiasts are so convinced that the perfect cigar is a $5 or less Nicaraguan powerhouse Toro (can't have less than 56rg) that Cubans wouldn't really take off even if they did drop the embargo.

Oh you're wrong there, if the US would allow import of Cubans the market would be screwed. There are A LOT of cigar smokers in the US that are trying to “import” as many Cubans as possible, so if sales were opened up the market would go crazy
Stock is easier to get than most make out. I worked in Cincinnati for four years, up until 2021, and most locals were bringing out CCs and they certainly weren’t fakes.

Oh I see what you mean - there's a good deal of CCs in the US and some swarming around, but it's all private imports and in the big picture not near what I would call “stock”. Quite a bit is subsidised by FOH 24:24 sales I believe
