Plasencia is a tabacalera in Nicaragua that also produces for many other brands. They grow their own tobacco and have one of the biggest tobacco storages in the industry. This allows them not only to create some stunning cigars, but also to create some real budget gems that are not possible to create die other manufacturers.
The Reserva is a perfect example. I discovered it in a blind tasting with 50 other people. At the end of the general consensus was this is an excellent cigar worth about €12 a piece. We were all surprised to find out that the Toro format that we had actually came to €5.50!
There's not a ton of transition, but that's not to be expected at this price point.
You do get some pepper which is typically for Nicaragua but also a ton of sweetness, plum and dried fruit notes. Some earth and distinct leather notes come in after the half point.
It's a strong flavour and not for the CC lovers amongst you. For friends of Nicaraguan flavours though, this is a must try. Best budget cigar I have had in my years and for that price, you can't really pass it up.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
