  • Three short reviews

I promised certain people I would leave some thoughts on the cigars I was lucky enough to be gifted. I have smoked three of late. The Tatuaje was from LeeNub, the Cuban-Crafters was from Rokkitsci, the third stick I cannot recall the source, sorry, how rude!

I smoked the Tatuaje black tube at the Dunhill meet-up. Some of you will recall the rave review I gave my first Tatuaje experience, the T110. Well this was a let down. It had a damaged cap, which is fine, transit issue are commonplace. It was a little dry, but not shockingly so. All I got from this was spice. It was strong but not amazingly. It was just the stinging spice flavour I was left with. It did not posses what I refer to as the "generic non-Cuban flavour" that I get from so many sticks, which is good, but that is about the best thing I can say. I questioned myself if I was expecting too much from this cigar following the T110 but I have to say I would have been unimpressed even if I had not known what it was.

A few weeks back I smoked the Cuban-Crafters Cameroon Churchill. I grabbed this at random and expected nothing from it. I actually rather enjoyed it. Not a complex cigar but some flavour, pleasant strength and pleased me for a large smoke that did not require much thinking about. A big pleasant smoke for a few dollars.

Two nights ago I grabbed a random stick from one of my little humidors. It was the Vieja Tradicion Maduro Corona Gorda, I only had one. Well what an entirely acceptable smoke. This was just a good, put a smile on your face smoke. Above medium in strength but I would be hard pushed to call it full. Some flavour, darker hints of chocolate and coffee, a little non-specific flavour wise perhaps but still yummy. I know zero about this cigar, I do not even remember who sent it to me, sorry!

Can anybody shed light on this smoke for me please? I would LOVE to try a few more.

Shame about the Tat, not sure why it was dry though, it was kept at 65% for months. The cap was split on every single one i got, not sure why.

I do hope you do not think me being rude, I am still HUGELY grateful! I know some of the others you sent will be good. I feel rude giving honest reviews, but what point is there otherwise?

It smoked well as I said but I want to try a second before I tell people to rush out and buy them. Never judge a cigar on one experience, good or bad, I think anyway.

Yes, very true! My first ever Montecristo no. 2 did not go so well. Though I did have some cheese cake ice cream immediately before the smoke.

I think that has something to do with Tatuajes in general. Maybe the wrapper leaf they use is really thin, or they are packaged poorly. But everywhere I go, and I mean everywhere, that I can find Tatuajes they are almost all cracked or damaged. In fact, I buy them all the time from store owners when they are taken off the shelf and discounted due to appearance. I don't think I have paid full price for a Tatuaje in 3 years. I bring them home, mix up some pectin and take a toothpick to reseal any cracks or flaky wrappers and voila! Good as near new! I doubt it had anything to do with something you did Lee or something T did.

It's hard to follow the T110. I had a similar experience with the black tubo. Found it one dimensional and boring. The red tubos are much better imho.

That's too bad about the Tatuajes--in the States, I've not seen any cracking at all in the stores or the ones I've bought online. These T110's sound great, but it doesn't seem that they are available anymore.

I continue to buy the El Triunfadors and the La Riquezas and enjoy them thoroughly. Highly recommended!

                        Good reviews, by the way.

I've had similar problems with most of the tats I've had, always have a little damage on the wrappers, I think they are just a bit on the thin side.....

Things that make me go hummmmmmmmmmmmm.
I've burned many and never a split or dryness!
When receiving the Tubos taking the lid off will elimunate the dryness .
