The argument on "poor construction" and "acrid taste due to tobacco not being properly fermented" was valid in the late 90's/early 2000's, it's no longer justified at all since 2006…
These people from the NC cigar industry are out of arguments, period.

Fuente God of Fire and the Padron 80 years (thanks for reminding me, Soulman)!

I have to admit I have burned some great Cubans,but am I willing to fuck around trying to enjoy a cigar that just won't perform. NO,hell no. If a cigar has problems I uaually toss it and move on to something that doesn't. At the prices of Cubans I couldn't afford to do that to often. I watched a BOTL trying to enjoy a CC while Skyping and told him to pitch the bitch and he said " Not for what I payed for it". Nothing like being let down buy the 1 thing we look foward to at the end of a long day.

Yeah, but the only NCs I think are comparable to CCs are Padrons, and I pay less for CCs than I do for a box of Padrons. Juan Lopez = cheaper, RyJ short Churchys = cheaper, Cohiba Secretos = cheaper, Cohiba Robustos = same price, Partagas - cheaper, HDM = cheaper, etc. I think this piggybacks off of Lascaux's comment in some respects; NCs have consistent construction but price for the cigars TJ mentions as being comparable NCs are more expensive than the majority of CCs. Just a thought.Business in the front. Party in the back.

I'll be honest! This cuban versus non-cuban discussion is getting quite old.
It's like comparing apples to oranges. They are different animals. They both have different flavor profiles and everyone's tastes are different. I think Larry made a good point about the UK market only recently getting into the non-cuban arena and UK smokers are used to Cuban flavors. Also, the UK market is very limited when it comes to non-cubans. You guys have non-cubans geared towards the UK market that I have never heard of. Quite frankly, most probably are crap.
In the US, we have so many non-cubans on the market that there is bound to be shitty ones. However, there are many great ones too.
Personally, I like both cubans and non-cubans and I smoke both!!! There are too many great cigars out there to limit yourself.Last edited by jdawg; 24-03-2010, 04:52 AM.

Maybe years of smoking CCs has altered your palate to make it more difficult to enjoy new tastes in tobacco? Did you enjoy beer the very first time you tasted it? How about coffee? I know my first CC I was sure was a fake when all I had to compare it to was the taste of Padrons.
I have no great knowledge of NC, but some of the ones gifted to me by forum members have been really good smokes. Likewise I have also had some shit Cuban smokes.

i have not smoked enough cigars, cuban or non cuban to have a have a strong opinon on what is best but the one thing i always notice in these cc v nc debate is that nc are always lumped together, is it more diffcult to know were the tabbaco comes from were as cuban tabacco has a certain taste that we recognise

I'm guessing the CC Vs. NC debate is as old as the Canon Vs. Nikon argument we get in photography circles. I'm gessing it's also as irritating for more seasoned smokers! For me both arguments come down to the same couple of points: Personal preference, or personal experience. I prefer Nikon cameras, having tried both Nikon and Canon extensively...I prefer NC having not really tried CC. There is no right answer.
