NC Suggestions please.

One of my colleagues is heading to Disney, Orlando in a couple of weeks and he has graciously agreed to make a small purchase on my behalf.

He has young family, so won't be going out of his way to visit any of the big cigar retailers but is willing to pop in to Sosa Family Cigars when he's at Downtown Disney (made a few purchases there myself last year - very friendly/helpful guys in the shop)

Space and cost restrictions are a bit of a bind but I have prepared a short list of preferences as follows:

CAO Sopranos Sampler Box (4 cigars) or
CAO Conmemorativo Sampler (7 cigars) or
Partagas Black Label Crystal Tubes Maduros (8 cigars) or
Sosa Family Selection #4 (10 cigars) or
Acid Limited Edition Tin (14 cigars) or
Nub Series Sampler (12 cigars)

All of the above are $50 or less.

Does anyone have any comments on the above or any alternative suggestions.

Acid Sampler!

The Acid Sampler*is an excellent way to experience this unique line of cigars. I tried a sample tin many years ago and the one that left the best impression was the Clean Robusto. The tin is pretty cool, too!





*Please note - it may sound like a lot of stogies are packed into the tin, but it includes several cigars that a no thicker than lil' stevieboy's ....errr, a straw.

On the CAO Sopranos,I don't know of anyone that enjoyed the Soprano line.
Especially for the money.

On the Acids,I find the flavors overwhelming.

They didnt have much in the way you have listed when i was there last year mate, they had there own brand obviously and some flavoured. They do stock a lot of romeo y julieta and cohiba, the reserva real and habano RyJ's are nice. Also ask him to bring a hand rolled sosa back for you from one of the rollers

outside of your list I would reccommend Oliva V which is very good value. A bit more expensive but even nicer imo is La Riqueza.

I was going to suggest these two as well!

I am not really sure what this shop carries, but I would suggest the following:

Nub, Cain sampler
My Father, My Father Le Bijou 1922
Oliva V
Tatuaje, La Riqueza
Illusione
The Sosa brand is a decent smoke too!
I like the Sopranos as well.
The Acid brand is not my cup of tea. I am not into the flavored/infused stuff, but the Liga Privada No. 9 from Drew Estate is a brilliant smoke.

The acid sampler is a great little tin and I do like the acid range. However if you've not tried them before then I would look at getting a couple of singles like a Kuba Kuba to try first.
They are not everyones cup of tea and can often be compared to smoking a joss stick.

They do carry a decent range, but a lot are for tourists. Lots of tubed cohibas, romeos etc. If the roller is on its great watching him roll one for you.

Seems like you have a pretty good list to work off of there so I would only add one thing. If you get anything from the ACID line make sure your colleague separates them from the other sticks with at least 3 layers of plastic or all of your cigars will be ACIDS! I don't know if he is a cigar guy himself so it might be good to go over the basic humidity needs too.

When friends bring items back for me, to save them the trouble, and to save me from getting something I dont want I normally just get a mailing address and make an order to be delivered to them.

As far as the smokes go - personally, if I never see an acid again I'll be happy. Sorry! Also feel the Sopranos are over priced.

As I said, I was in Sosa myself last year but can't for the life of me remember what they had in stock. I remember going round and just taking one of each of several brands that I'd never tried before. But my wife and kids were with me, so didn't have the luxury of spending some serious browsing time.

Im not sure if sosa have 2 stores, one in miami were they have a larger choice, and one at Downtown Disney which is for the tourists. Its a great place though, you can go and sit with the old cuban guys on the leather chairs and enjoy a hand rolled cigar. The walk in humi was well stocked from what i remember, but i seem to recall as i said in an earlier post, lots of RyJ's , Cohibas etc

Price wise, i paid $32.00 for each of the RyJ edicion limitada tubos

$22.00 for the Cohiba toro tubos

And about $10.00 for each of the Reserva real and Habano RyJs tubos

Expensive i know, but i didnt know any better then
