Stubby cigars

Hello all

I've seen a few of the stubby (>50 RG, < 4" length) cigars on offer and am a bit intrigued as to how they smoke. Posting here because I haven't seen any Cubans like this, but wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

The NUB series looks interesting, but there are tonnes of them! Any specific ones people recommend.

I know our sponsor also has a couple of stubbies in the Inka ranges, but I've only heard bad things about the whole range

I'm sure there are more...but not sure

Ony had the MC PE which was a lovely as it had some age had one young and wasn't a fan.

There are tons of the Petit Robusto 50 to 52 x 4" (102) up to 115 (4.5") Starting back in 2007 with the Cohiba Magicos. I am not a huge fan especially the 52 x 4" I tend to smoke fast and it seems like I have a hot coal in my mouth. The 50 x 4.5 are not bad, there is one that I do really like and it is the new La Flor de Cano Casanova 50 x LengthC45110 (4.3") Edici?n Regional Italia A 2016 release, released in 2017. They come a Numbered Semi Boite Nature Box of 10 cigars (6,000 made).

I have tried the NUB Maduro and enjoyed it until the massive nic hit, which made me feel incredibly ill in a short space of time. I have a Connecticut in the humi and have heard that they are the best in the range but am a little fearful of the nicotine!

Take it slow on a full stomach and drink something sugary, it counteracts the nicotine somewhat

I've had the opportunity to enjoy many stubby NUBS and agree, the Connecticut is the best of the bunch. I seem to remember the Habano wasn't too bad either.

This may be a stupid question but as I typically only smoke robusto or larger, I'm interested. Does, for example, a Partagas D6 have the 'flavour' profile of the latter two-thirds of a D4?

The whole marketing concept of Nubs was that the final third of a cigar is supposed to the best so lets sell a cigar that is just the final third. The final third is the best because smoking the first two thirds has made it that way so the concept is clearly a load of b**llocks. I think you can safely apply that concept to the D6 and similar Cubans. Incidentally I've just bought a five box of D6, I'll try to get one smoked and give you an opinion.
The only thought that springs to mind is that if its the same blend it might age quicker?

Yeah, I never really understand the theory of making a cigar that hits the so-called "sweet spot" (last third of a stick) from the get-go. Odd.

Having said that, I do enjoy a wacky NUB every now and then, mostly the Connecticut (medium) and Habano (Full) wrapers.
