I had a georges reserve today from monte as he included it with an order of cigars,i gotta say it was a most enjoyable cigar,it had a strong taste on the pallet and a very nice even burn,lots of nice aroma,all in all it was a very satisfying smoke indeed.thankyou monte & rokkit.

I think I shall make mine my starter for ten when I am sufficiently chilled and get a buzz for one.

Yep...thanks Rokkitsci and Monte...got my Robusto the other day. By the time I get home and tea out of the way, it's dark, so looks like it's weekend smoking for me at the moment. I'll post a review when I get it smoked, but it actually looks very good.

It's a kind action...and I appreciate it.

Yes, that was me...had been sanding floors with the wife and kids away, baking hot day, me exhausted, remembered some unsmoked tubos from a few years back...and lit up a Honduran Zino No 8...perfect.

I lead a poetic life...actually, more like a limerick!

What's it like working in a University Library?

Well, how can I begin to describe the glamour, the ever-present sense of risk and danger, the fast women and the slow dancing? Truth is, it's only like that most of the time...there are a few moments that are quite quiet, some might even say dull...

Actually, it's like most other big service operations...good and bad. The students can be great fun, or a pain in the ass...some are very demanding, others afraid to approach you for help. Personally, I tend to like them and empathise with them, and most of my staff do too. We actually do care about them and do our best to assist with their studies. It's the best part of what we do.

The academic staff...well, let's say it's like herding cats!

Hell of a lot of IT in the job...I'm pushing a lot of Web 2.0 services at present, which is fun...sort of.

I manage about 50 odd people - and some are very odd (joking actually, they are a great bunch of very talented people) - not all full-time. There are about 80 in our Library. Can be quite pressured at times...this week I've been solidly interviewing, and I'm doing the same tomorrow morning. Feeling pretty knackered. Had about 140 applications for one of the posts this week...hard going.

Been a librarian for about 23 years...before that working in hotels, driving fork-lift trucks etc. I like to think I'm not the stereotypical librarian...but there again, most people would, huh?

I'll bore you some more with a few stories some time...just too knackered at the moment. Probably need a cigar...

Georges Reserve Robusto



I think I smoked my very first Nicaraguan cigar today. A Georges Reserve Robusto, courtesy of RocketMan via Monte.

It was a delight.

It's a very light brown cigar with a beautiful band. It tasted... smoky! It gave me a slight buzz round the gums, which I love. It burned absolutely evenly with a compact ash. It's not a strong cigar. It's sort of mid-strength, and it tasted of coffee. I drank cups of Assam with it throughout, as ever. Maybe I was just thinking about coffee!

A very relaxing and pleasurable hour today with this cigar. I'd definitely go for one of these cigars again.

First of all thanks again to Rokkitski...Sorry I mean Rokkitsci (it's the American and Soviet thing..) for supplying the Cigar, and Monte for acting as a go between

I had my George today when the sun finally came out, and although I am not very good at describing the taste of cigars...I either like them or I don't....I will try

I found it to be an easy draw, with plenty of smoke. The first quart was mellow and it then started to get a little stronger but not to strong.
I have to say I think this cigar was the biggest Gauge I have had so far and in turn, I must say I enjoyed it.
There was not a great deal of flavours coming from the cigar but I would not say 'don't buy one of these'

I think Rokkitsci wanted to know what we would pay, so after much deliberation I would put this cigar in the $3 to $4 NC bracket..

Hey larry and rokkit when i went to florida we went to walmart its one of your big stores over there i think in america,could any of you guys if you ever go, find out if they still sell some churchills cigars,i cant rememeber the name but they were in a pack of 10 and they were hunduran i think,if you do find them i would gladly buy some off you as i think they were about 20 or 25 dollars for ten,they probly have gone up since then as these were realy nice to smoke.thanks andy.

Smoked my Georges Reserve Robusto this evening...big thanks to Rokkit and Monte.

Very nice cigar I thought though not big on flavour or complexity. Its a lovely light brown colour, and I like the band...NCs always seem to have brighter bands than the classic Cubans...

Lit easily, and burned consistently, though it went out on me at the last third...lit again without too much trouble. Ash was nice, though can't really judge as I managed to drop it twice...once 'coz of the bloody dog jumping at me!

First impression was that it was a very mild cigar, with an open, easy draw. Couldn't get any real flavour from the first third, though cool and mild was just what I was in the mood for, so enjoyed it. The second third, it got a bit stronger. Lots of smoke, and I like that in a cigar.

After it went out, and I relit it, I expected to get that "burning" taste, but after the first puff or two it settled down again and remained mild until the end. And I mean the end...I managed to smoke it almost totally!

As I said in my other post, I felt a bit dizzy afterwards, but that was probably 'coz I hadn't had a proper cigar for a couple of weeks 'coz of this bloody cold, though that has pretty well passed now. Good job I didn't smoke a Bolivar - would probably have passed out!

Re cost - I'm not a good judge. I enjoyed the cigar, and would smoke one again, though probably wouldn't want to pay more than ?4 for it. Nice day-time cigar I thought.
