"currant" ??? must be another way of raisin funds!
I thought that was more if you're selling it on (not that it's for that as the website states.)

I ginf it a little odd that they expect you to pay tax on something you've made AFTER you've payed for the raw goods...

I think, fundamentally, once it's turned into a smokeable product or state, that's where the goalposts move.

Edit: Apparently, excise duty is liable at the above stage.

The good old tax man scoring twice again. I remember when I used to send Scottty Cameron putters back to the custom shop to get refurbed I had to pay tax on them when they came back into the country even though I'd bought them and paid the tax here first time round

I thought it was only payable if you sold it. Grow as much as you want as long as its for personal use

                Yes, but not for smoking.
I think that Whole Leaf would know the position Wiggy. They clearly state it on their site, hence the quote a few posts up

They could be ornaments lol. I suspect that hmrc wouldn't have the resources to enforce this plus. Can't see whole leaf sharing customer records ..

For me it's a legal position for them to notify customers of the legalities

The way I see it is that I've took the whole leaves and squashed them into a certain shape; I'm not selling it, I have took something I own and simply changed it's shape Who said it is smokeable? I just prefer my tobacco leaves to be in a cylindrical shape when I store them

Just playing devils advocate and im in no way against what your doing..... As its awesome...... But, you are advertising on a public internet forum relating to smoking. A forum which can be viewed freely by HMRC if they so wish.

                        "Who said its smokeable"

Lol, you did... When you referred to yourself testing draw and hoping that it smokes well.

                        P.S. I hope it does.

I don't think 15 homemade cigars will be top of their proactive open source enquiries lol

Yeah exactly, I'm sure it will cost them more to chase up my probably unsmokeable cylindrical leaves than it will earn them taxes

Absolutely, but UKCF promotes and condones correct and proper behaviour relating to ALL smoking duties.

                              Anyway, have fun.
