  • Davidoff sticks... any good?

One of those brands that always struck me as more name than substance for some reason, but got an email through about the new Davidoff Nicaragua Experience sticks so was wondering what others thought.

    so, Davidoff sticks... any good?

Right! Stay away from the New Nicaragua stick. Some give it high marks, but after taking one out for a test run, It blows....IMO, of course

Now, if you're thinking about the Grand Cru or Millenium lines, then that's another matter. Both nice!

Thanks TJ... I think I'll steer clear of the New Nicaragua stick, for now at least.

Personally, I didn't like it a lot, but do think thAt folk who like NCs wouldn't be disappointed with the Nicaragua. Of course YMMV I'll get my review up when I find time.

As a 'folk who likes NCs' that would be the first Davidoff I've liked if I did!

Not yet CJ, I've found the few I've tried to be rather bland.

I've only had two, but I liked the Gran Cru no. 3 very much. A tasty smoke IMHO. The price point spoils it though.

Se?or! I like NCs and I was disappointed! How do you account for that?

Well of course you did. Afterall, they're not for REAL HOMBRES, like you and me.

No...the Davidoff is, how should I put it, a subtle, mild cigar which requires a more sophisticated palate to enjoy the subtle nuances...the flavors, if you will. The kind of palate that folks like Ray Gay and chico butteredballs possess.

Perhaps it is a sweeping statement. However, so far there's you and PJ that like NCs (that have responded to that comment) with you not liking the Nicaragua, and PJ thinking he won't because he doesn't generally but hasn't yet.

                      Poll?

Well that's typical of se?or peesinhisjays....glass half empty and all that. Me, I won't speculate on sticks and puros unless I've at least had one to try. But in the lad's defense....I suspect he's right in this case.

I was really excited when the newest Davidoff showed up on the shelf of me local vendor and couldn't wait to wrap my lips around it. But try as I did, I was underwhelmed by this stick, no matter how had I tried to enjoy it. And what a surprise to see it so highly rated in CA magazine. I wonder if it had something to do with all the advertising money they dump on that rag.

                        My two pesos!

Hey El Perro! Careful or you'll burn from within before our time.

                          troo dis

The Nicaragua was a big disappointment on this Davidoff lover. I was looking forward to a stronger version of the Mill. series and I just got a shitty little thing that tasted like "not quite Oliva maduro". It is also around 2 times the cost of the Oliva Maduros!!

Back on the actual topic of Davidoff cigars. One of the best Non-Cubans I've had in my life was a Davidoff 2000 aged for around 5-7 years. It was a fantastic cigar that I will gladly pay for again.

The only issue is that NEW Davidoffs cost around $15. That's the price for many premium Cuban cigars. I can't justify it sometimes... Plus. They taste like mild Cuban cigars most of the time. Hard for me to justify those prices for faux- Cuba cigars (in my books)
