  • Heads up: fake Opus X alert Stateside

I have just been reading about what appears to be a large scale counterfeit ring of high-end Opus X cigars in the US. Apparently a lot with real bands, good looking but short-filler inside. This potentially has been going on for several years.

I am not going to talk about suppliers as to not breach UKCF rules but one of the best known US cigar auction sites have been alleged to be involved in the supply (and currently have no AF or Opus listed).

Whilst this is an interesting discussion please do not name any sources on the thread. Also be mindful that there may well be legal action in the US over this and what we write on here is considered 'published'.

    Some alleged fakes on ebay:

      Heads Up!

Good information, se?or Monkey. eBay would be the LAST place where I'd buy my puros....but that's just me.

You'd go to Craigslist or buy off Butters before Ebay?!

The seller has covered his legal arse ..... It's only the band that's real.

              1. The value of the item is in the collectible packaging, not in the tobacco itself.
              2. The tobacco within is not intended for consumption.
              3. This item is not available at any retail outlet, and the packaging has a value that substantially exceeds the current retail price of the tobacco product in the package.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Thanks for the info. Is there really that much money in it? What sort of RRP do these go for then? I knew they were higher end cigars, but didn't realise they were worth faking. I have a few here and there but never touched more than one in the last few years.

Yup big money. Opus x regular production arec $25-50 Per stick and then there are endless rare and limited small product runs that go for far more.

One of the sticks that has been traded is a No4 Lost City. AF have confirmed that they have never even made that stick!
