  • Inka Half Corona & Chinchallero Novilla

    Well so far, I'm disappointed.
Tried the inka rojo half corona. Bitter, tasted like a cigarette, so gave up on it. Then tried the chinchallero novilla. Creamy and slightly chocolatey - nice easy draw initially but then became hard work and went out.
Didn't like it enough to relight and my head was spinning.
This morning my mouth tastes like a short ashtray.
I'm assuming that's not normal, as it's the first time this has happened.
These were only my second and third NC's. The first was an inka crsitales which was actually pretty good and which encouraged me to get some more from the inka range.
So now I'm not interested in the smokes I brought back from Cambridge the other day. :-(
Was it me, or was it the cigars?
The next question is, where to go next......

A good Cuban should leave a refreshing aftertaste and no taste when you wake up in the morning (assuming you've brushed your teeth before hitting the sheets and haven't been chain-smoking all evening).

Chinchallero and Inka are cheap, which ought to tell you something, although judging from your experience you won't be going back to them too often. But if you've still a stash of them left, try smoking them only after dinner and not late in the evening .... and nothing says you have to smoke a cigar passed the point where you've ceased to enjoy it .... let it go.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

I'll hold on to them then. Thanks for the advice!
So which of the following do you think I should go for, to help me get over the badness?
      Rafael Gonzalez Perlas
      Guantanamera Minutos
Punch Pc (got this from asda though, so I'm not hopeful!)
      Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robustos

Hm disagree with Arf, I reckon it's probably because he's got a few years smoking on me, but I still have an awful wake-up breath/taste however good the cigar is, Cuban or not.

It goes a bit with time, but as a beginner you will suffer from it I'm afraid!

The light headedness is also normal, drink something sweet with it like Coke and keep a stash of chocolate close by - it's your blood sugar dropping. A big cigar will still do that for me if I'm not careful with the sugar intake.

The Guantanamera may be an experience... but I wouldn't try one to get over a bad experience, unless you want to look back at the others and think they weren't that bad

But the others should all be good smokes.

I personally don't like the RG Perlas, but that doesn't mean a lot as plenty of BOTL do.
Guantanamera Minutos I've never had, although I have smoked some Compay which though they fall apart as they smoke weren't as bad as people claim.
An ASDA Punch should be OK, I smoke enough Upmann JC walking home from Waitrose. But leave it in the humi for a week or two as supermarkets store dry, though tubes ought to be safe enough.
HdM Petit Robusto, I would have chosen the Montecristo PR, but the HdM is well liked and you should enjoy it.

Think about your smoking rhythm, if you don't want bears breath in the morning try keeping to one draw per minute, it also helps combat the wooziness. Sugar and stuff helps, but I just view that as chucking on unwanted calories, if I feel a bit heady I just slow down or make the decision to stop.
If you want to, you can.

I must just be lucky 'cause I've never experienced that.

The Inka range has to be one of the worst cigars I've ever smoked. Tasteless and just like you I thought of cigarettes.
Get yourself some Montecristo No.4 always a popular smoke with newbies. Other than that I would say HDM Epi 2 or the Bolivar PC.

Uh oh. I just ordered two Inka's. Rojo red tres petit and Azul blue petit corona. They had good reviews online. They should come tomorrow will report back what I think of them. I've tried the Chinchallero, it wasn't memorable and on my log I wrote absolutely nothing about it which is a sign I didn't care for it in the slightest.

Just had a thought - could it be possible they were too dry, so burned too hot?
They're all kept in a mini tupperdore with 2 x 8g 72 boveda humidipaks (small lock and lock that fits about 8 sticks or so).

Andy84 - hope your inkas are ok - I'm 1:1 at the moment....

You might like them, I don't know how they get such good reviews. Perhaps Mitch pays people to say good things about them

I think it just comes down to people like different stuff. I have tried cheap cigars and liked them and more expensive and well regarded cigars and not cared for them.

Personally I won't be rushing out to get any Inka's, but if I got one in a bomb I would gladly and thankfully smoke it.

Went with the HDM, which I'm smoking at the moment.
It's like night and day.... This is simply divine by comparison!
                              What's a bomb btw?
