    AlexBradley – Filthy Hooligan!

    Alex Bradly launched a Candela cigar for St. Patricks Day & called it the "Dirty Hooligan", now changed to "Filthy" the candela wrapper has brought out some misconceptions;

to the best of my knowledge I'll give you some facts.

It's not just young leaves .....it's the drying process that's different...

Candela wrappers should not really be called Double Claro..but often are..

The green colour is fixed during the drying process..they are usually younger/thinner leaves, all live tobacco leaves are green.

Candela leaves are dried in approximately 45 to 55 hours at about 30 C. rising to 66 C..this fixes the green colour (chlorophyll).

Normal wrappers take about 30 days to mature and dry at lower temps, the leaves go brown.

The Candela wrappers are not very strong & the flavour should be overpowered by the filler & binder.

Taste on the lips is usually grassy & sweetish...aroma is nice & toasty...

It will stay green in your humi but as most other cigars the shade ofgreen may change...

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...

Not sure about the intricacies of the method, but yep, it's in the curing. Recently had an AF 858 in green and it was a very decent smoke. CA featured it http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfe...ing-Green_8220

Have you tried the Hooligan Puff?

I heard a rumor we might be getting them in towards the end of this week. If they're priced ok (I'm poor) I'll buy one and let you guys know!

Is that in Toronto or Bedfordshire?

Looking forward to hearing from either location

No..I doubt I will, I have a couple coming from a BOTL but have them earmarked for another...
In my old cynical way I just see them as more marketing, I'm trying NC's at the moment but wouldn't go out of my way for anything 'special'..
Now .. a big fat robusto with a Saltire printed on it for Burns Night..I may be persuaded..

Waahaay James, sounds an awful job...but someone's gotta do it what a great retail experience, but I do empathise with all that temptation.

I can see the obvious and fun attraction for St. Paddy's and would smoke one because of it. But those Candela wrappers are a lot greener than any Candela has a right to be!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

?12 for a Toro, far too light and a little sweet for my taste. Cap construction was a little iffy too.

Under $6.40 in the States would make it a bit more acceptable...A Filthy Rip-Off would be a better name over here at ?12....

Have yet to smoke me a Candela I've liked at any price. Probably psychological, but to me they all taste "green."

                        YMMV

'Green'? I think you're being kind George. That thing's 'luminous'.

Love the name but it doesnt sound like something I would smoke.

Might get one for the display shelf
