It all depends on the flavour profile. Best ever NC I have smoked and in my all time fav cigar list are Fuente Sharks - not cheap but blow most Cubans out of the water. A really easy medium cigar with great balance is the Fuente Magnum R series the 56 is my favourite. Last few days I have been enjoying Nub Sungrown 466 which I would say is medium full flavour. something that I wanted to hate but couldn't was a Dunhill Aged Altamiras - really light flavour and very smooth - I really enjoyed it and proceeded to smoke half the box over a couple of weeks!

Anything Tatuaje! Is there a chance you could get your hands on some samplers? that would give you a broad spectrum. if you are going to try two types, maybe try and get a low-mid price stick and a high end one like Liga Privadas or Anejos or Tats. cos you never know, might luck out with a cheap but decent stick.
for example, one of my favourite sticks is the Diesel dX, beats a Liga Feral Flying Pig or Dirty Rat in IMO
