Are Maduro cigars sometimes dyed?

It seems to come up quite often at cigar events and this is what I have learnt from the answers by H&F. They're 'cooked' or 'steamed'. Commas because not sure if that's the term for the process or if they are quite literally cooking them or steaming them. Maduro actually translates to ripe and they should be aged leaves grown under cover from the sun and once picked, aged for a few years. Obviously this is time consuming and expensive so some factories go the quicker route which funnily enough seems to be acceptable for the American cigar lovers I've met but not for many british. I personally wouldn't pay for a Maduro-wrapped cigar that isn't actually a Maduro.
