  • Rocky Patel - what's happened to the quality?

Has anyone else noticed a downturn in the quality of Rocky Patel lately? Out of the last bunch I bought, 5 were plugged, one had uneven burn and the other burned okay but didn't seem as good as I remembered.

Have I just been unlucky or is Rocky Patel letting quality slip in a bid to supply the massive demand?

Hi Rhiannon....I'm pretty much trying to paraphrase a few things I read on another board but it seems that some people are of the opinion that RP has indeed let quality slip. From what I've gathered it seems that a large disparity has developed between the varying blends and vitolas etc and the basic raw materials to keep producing them.Hence they've produced blends that have been well received but then in order to try and keep pace with demand have bought up random warehouse stock from wherever and attempted to keep reproducing, which hasn't worked,as you'd reasonably expect I suppose.

I've seen them (the company) described as now having gone in way over their heads in terms of marketing which has caused them to "sell out" on some of their blends. It seems, however, that the sungrown cigars remain of high quality and in good standing with popular opinion.Again,I do stress that I've pretty much lifted this from another forum and I have no knowledge of my own. Some of the other guys here will be able to offer something firsthand I'm sure
