To unwrap or leave wrapped?

Having received my NC's from ACMCC (see separate thread in "For Sale" for what he has - very quick and safe postage and the sticks look to be in excellent condition) I put them straight into my humi without thinking.

My wife asked why I wasn't taking them out of the cellophane first, after all the CC's go in "naked". I couldn't give a reason but left the cellophane on as that is how they arrived.

Can anyone tell me whether they leave the cellophane on NC's or take it off and why?

No doubt there are reasons for either and neither is right or wrong. I'll probably have to make up my own mind so your thoughts are welcomed then I can make my decision given the pro's and cons.

This has been an ongoing argument since the discovery of cheese. The concensus seems to be "whatever floats yer boat."

FWIW, I leave mine wrapped.

x1 from what little I know,and it is only a little.Although I do remember reading somewhere that some people like to use a compromise by essentially leaving them wrapped but just snipping the end off from end of the cello.But I can't speak of any of it from personal experience.

My personal preference is usually to store them unwrapped so the flavours can 'marry'. Although, this isn't the case with a Flor Del Cibao i keep wrapped in my humi. I left it that way cause it seems to give off a little discolouring (leaving a lightly yellowy wrapper), so i thought i'll play it safe with that one.

I unwrap all mine, the cellophane can cause damp spots in the cigar and stops the cigar from attaining a steady humidity, they do stop damage to a point and yes flavours can marry but f they're in a box then it's not really an issue. I was told that it's a federal requirement to have them as it stops any kind of tiny fauna from getting into the cigars and potentially destroying American crops and what not.

I think they look better naked too.

Smoked a Georges Reserve the other day, been wrapped and in my humidor for about 18 moths. It was prefect and (IMHO) a really lovely light smoke and very well conditioned, no taste of cellophane at all.

I used to think that these were Rokitski's own private label cigars and now he has made his break for cigar fame and fortune who knows, he may end up buying the brand...

I leave mine in the wrapper, just I have so many NC's now I can't be bothered to unwrap them all. Not sure if it makes any difference though!
