NC Bundles from the US

Hey folks,

I'm getting a friend to send me some bundled cigars from the US. These will be purely for dog-walking cigars, or for general smoking when I want a cigar but without paying too much attention to it. This will allow me to enjoy smoking cigars while saving the good stuff for when I can fully relax and appreciate.

I'm gonna go with either the Flor de Oliva original robusto OR Consuegra #9 Rothschild maduro (4.5x50)

I've smoked both before. Have been through many bundles of the FdO's, and have enjoyed them. The connies I've smoked a few of, but it was years ago when I first started smoking cigars and can't really remember much about them. They are seconds of Honduran Punch/HdM, and have got a great rep as far as bundled cigars go.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone has any opinions about these cigars. Any of you guys go with cheap bundled cigars to tide you over till you hit the habanos?

Not sure about those, but a good tip for you - and a cheap one. Try the Alec Bradley Corona Gorda seconds - the seconds of this type are always Presnados, which are the top line, and about $40 for 20. Well worth a punt.

Try the CAO La Traviata, this is a great budget smoke and was in the top 25 CA smokes for 2010. Also +1 for Alec Bradley for a good cheap smoke as Deano says. Hope you enjoy what you end up getting!

I've smoked through a box of Alec Bradleys in the past, cant quite remember what they were though. And CAO are a brand I like a lot for NC'. Particularly the Brazilia line.

Deano, just been doing some reading on these, and they seem perfect for me. Just to clarify do you mean 'Alec Bradley 90+ Rated 2nds'?

If the corona Gorda are 2nds of the Presnados don't suppose you know what the petit coronas (4x44) are seconds of? Seems like that size might suit my dog-walking time just right.

EDIT: Also curious to know how you found out that the corona gordas are Presnado 2nd lol

Well James (Jimmeh on here) told me about them, and you'll see that only the AB Presnado line has a Corona Gorda so it's a logical conclusion!

The 90+ seconds statement is often attached to them, so yeah, those are the ones.

May i suggest you buy yourself some Arturo Fuente cigars for non dog walking times i would rate the robusto up there with some cubans and its a nice change of pace.

Cheap? Fonseca 2nds are currently an awesome deal. La Estrella Cubana's are silly cheap and a great smoke, I sent some to some of the guys here and had good feedback.

Ive always though of fonseca as a under rated and cheap yet great smokes though i didnt think they did seconds unless you mean a NC fonseca that i dont know about but still fonseca KDT cadets are a great cheap cuban "fishing cigar" imo.

Reaver, yeah I'm a big fan of AF. Smoked a few at Casa Fuente in vegas and enjoyed them very much.

If I get cigars sent to me from the US am I likely to have to pay customs fees/duty? If so, the money it could cost me it may not be worth the hassle. Could get myself a box of Party shorts for little more.

It's only a dog-walker smoke I'm after so maybe I'd be better with something like Cohiba clubs?

As far as i know the limit from non eu to eu is 50 cigars before you start incurring any tax/duty dunno if it applys to buying them off the web tough

I would be careful talking about that on here some people get slightly pissy regarding avoiding tax best to just keep it to yourself.
