well, just smoked the first of this box!!! it was the runt of the bunch, the not so nice looking one!!! was tight as f**k...... gave up after smoking over half!!! hope the rest aren't like this!!!

strange thing was, it burned well and was very aromatic when resting, however it took 3 or 4 puffs to get any decent amount of smoke!!! i poked it with a couple of times with a cocktail stick, that helped a bit, but not much!!! when i purged it, loads of smoke came out of the lit end (obviously)!!! problem was when i tried to smoke it!!! TBH, it felt solid just above and below the band!!! balls, it was plugged i thought!!! however, when i dissected it (a straight slice down the cigar), there was no 'plug' or twists in the bunch!!! reckon it was just a tightly packed cigar.....

better luck next time i guess!!!

lol, guess so monkey, guess so!!! never had this problem before, especially on a box of cigars that already have 1 year + on them...... reckon it's just a case of 'a tight cigar is a tight cigar'!!! anyhoo, i'll give them a few weeks and see what happens!!!

                  cheers mate,

They get travel sickness. I always let mine rest a month or so. What ever their age.

They can loose humidity balance in transport, always let them rest a while. ...but as you say a tight cigar is a tight cigar.

i hope so too!!! i've went through the box and singled out 3 similar feeling ones, almost rock solid!!! the rest feel as they should!!! i haven't put them in the humidor yet, gonna let the air at them for another few hours and then pack them away for a few weeks!!! hopefully, as monkey says, that'll balance out the humidity........

i absolutely love the VR famosos!!! i regularly buy them as singles here in belfast (have done for about the last year or more) and every time they've been spot on!!! one of my all time favourite 'robusto sized' cigars (yes i'm aware they're not robustos, hermosa no.4 i think)!!!! this is my first time buying a box of these (belfast is getting too expensive for cuban cigars, i mean, ?14 for a famosos? ?16.50 for a PSD4?).....

                            cheers,

                            alex

i bought a box of these a couple of years ago and had some initial problems similar to yours.
i took them out of the box and stored them loosely in a desktop humi for a few months and saw great improvements.
when good they really are a beautiful creamy cigar.
