Ohh don't think I've had a Dip 3. Love Dip 2s. Let us know how they smoke - I've had some sublimes that colour, they were very sweet to smoke.

i bought this after i smoked a vintage 2000 i bought as a signle from local shop. (much lighter colour)

bought them mainly because they are well aged.

aged, its a medium cigar, its quite different to the dip2s, much lighter body but still, it has lots of good aromatic smoke, earth, chocolate.

I remeber smoking the first third thinking, this thing is light and might be passed its best, but then after the first inch complex, earthy and sweet flavor won me over with that speical aromatic that you only get with aged sticks. when I know that there are some 2001 boxes are available, i immedately bited the bullet and ordered a box.

Now they are super-dark. I have never smoked one either. Be very interesting to see if they suffer any of the '01 challenges or if you have a gem of a box, please keep us posted.

Congrat's on your latest purchase Sean, the really look a full maduro. Good size smoke, not so popular these days although cornonas used to be the most popular format. Like Monkey66, I'll be interested to hear how consistant you find them.

                    Now they look very tempting!

Only ever tried a couple of Diplo No2's which I did enjoy.

Nowadays it's hard to find aged cigars at resonable price, these less favoured size n brand are really where one could find a bargain. Even if it's crap it's only a small bet. Construction wise I checked a few they all felt great the only thing being aroma cold being a bit muted.

In my experience Diplomatico's are not much affected by the problems of the period 1999-2001. I have had 2 boxes of No 1's from 2000 that were delicious and well rolled.

thanks for the good news Smallclub

just checked the box again, its in fact not that dark, i think it was due to the lighting and the camera during the afternoon.

i have taken another pic with a 2 dark sticks next to them, the maduro 5 and a 2008 Party5 (the darkest stick i ever had)
and 2 lighter shaded sticks, a CoRo and a Trini Reyes.

still, no matter what,i love this box of dip3. shall report back after i smoked one

i think this photo reflect better the actual colour, also taken in the afternoon but at a different angle:

You're in for a treat! Aged Diplomaticos offer much more sweet, honeyed notes compared to younger ones…
