A little write up on my first purchases, I’d love to hear your views on my choices. Suggestions for future smokes gratefully received!

My first three sticks were recommended by and purchased from Max at Davidoff:

They were enough to convince me to try some more......

• Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto - Always better with 3+ years of age on it.
• H. Upmann Half Corona It was one of my favourites when starting and I still love them today.
• Por Larranaga Petit Corona - Another very popular cigar that is a great one to try early on.

So off to Cgars I went. I got a bit carried away I think and ended up with a rather random selection:

I’ve smoked the Perla, the Choix Supreme and the Epicure. They were all very enjoyable but still all I’m getting flavour-wise is ‘smoke’!

The Quai d’Orsay 50 made me feel a bit nauseous but I think it’s because I smoked it a bit fast.

I had the Cuaba yesterday, and although pleasant I found it quite hard work. Will try another when I have more experience.

With all the talk of age, how do I find out how old the single cigars I buy are if they are not specifically being sold as of a certain year? Will Cgars provide that info if asked?

Yep, they are really good and will provide ages of singles if you ask prior to ordering usually.

Also, you have bought some really good cigars in that order. I look forward to hearing your thoughts as you work through them 👍🏻

Singles, from a volume shifter like cgars, no chance. If you walk into a store you can ask, but often the boxes on the shelves are restocked so probably wont be reliable date stamp on them.

If you are curious about it they may often hold aged stock. Be prepared to pay more though.

I asked recently using their live chat and the lady checked and surprisingly they were selling HUHC with 2 years on them. Although, I suspect you could be right the majority of the time 👍🏻

Just got these, Hoyo Du Depute from 2001. A very different experience to the last Du depute I had. Even I can tell this is waay smoother!
