Nice purchase! I had the same plastic smell with mine. To get rid of the smell I removed all the plastic and left the cloth out for a day or two keeping just the lacquered box in my humi.
Once the smell had gone I put the lacquered box back in the cloth and the cardboard box and then put that in a sealed zip lock bag back in my humi (as I do with all my boxes that I store for long term ageing).
Thanks for the advice, makes perfect sense and I'll be following your lead. I'm curious about your idea of long term storage in zip lock bags, if the bag is airtight sealed does that not stop the humidty in your humidor from penetrating the cigars?
nice saving but still substantial outlay, good job theres a two box limit per traveller . still it will be a few years until i can go,what age can u leave kids at home and go off on holiday? i'm guessing a 2 year old and an 11 week old is probably a little too young

I have a little room in the humidor at present if you want someone to make sure they are OK for when you get back. Just a ?20 admin fee and ?25 annual subs and I promise they'll be there when you get back.
