?? So you want the cheaper, regular cigar to not be as good as the EL??
Are you nuts?

Not at all, I’d love it if it was as good or better, of course. But if true, the concept of EL, aged leaf etc. falls completely. And I could expect the next the next Boli introduction to overgrow the Soberano
But as I said, I’ll have a Topes reg this week, so I’ll see for myself.
It’s human nature to find the more expensive and rarer cigar better even if they are identical though. I know I’d prefer the new to equal the old ones but that may devalue the originals

Not for me, I don’t fall for that - I’ve learned that from 30 years in wine. I’ve tasted 15 ? wines that way surpass 1855 rated wines that cost 100?.
having said that, maturation of leaf by longer or more fermentations is more or less proven to make better cigars, and IF we’re to believe Habanos, EL’s are made of tobacco aged 2 or + years more and that should all things equal yield a different cigar. Not necessarily better, smoother or more complex - just different. From that, I simply deduct that they must be different.
but in the end only taste can determine if true or not.
Theoretically couldn?t you end up with the same smoke if you just laid them down for a couple of years then? Not that that would ever result in exactly the same smoke in the end, though I feel like I probably trust my own aging more than Habanos.
My point was more that taste is incredibly subjective and there is so much psychology that goes into it with expectations and belief as well as location experience and all sorts that no matter how good your taste buds are genuinely wanting something or believing something should be better will have an impact. Sometimes it?s the other way if it doesn?t meet the minimum standard you expect of that though
I doubted a very long time but eventually pulled the trigger. 1966 have been high on my wishlist ever since. I know they are overpriced and that one can obtain cigars that are (probably) almost as good or maybe better at a more reasonable rate. Call it my crazy purchase of the year, I know people that are making a WIH ;lol; 1 more box coming in, then a serious ?CSS? (cigar stop shop) for at least a few months

We?ll see how your CSS goes. I failed with my hiatus again. Got some customs coming in in the next few days and we just split a cab of Incas. [emoji2361]
