  • Tom's Tobacco Trove

    Hi all,

Much like Stocko's thread, I thought it prudent to start my own thread documenting the ebb and flow of cigars in the humidor.

Some of you may have seen my introduction on the Newbie section but if not, in short its early in my cigar career and I'm still finding my feet. Im very much of the thinking that variety is the spice of life so I've got no particular preferences yet be it CC or NC and very much on my journey of discovery (which in reality, won't ever end!).

After sampling various cigars early in the journey I spent a huge amount of time researching cigars, reading books, trawling forums, websites etc and have accumulated the below (in order (I've kept a pretty big spreadsheet to keep track of everything)):

    Oliva Serie V Melanio
    Padron 1926 No.6 Maduro
    Montecristo No.2
    Montecristo Joyitas
    Romeo Y Julieta Petit Julietas
    Hirochi Robaina (2x sample boxes)
Flor De Las Antillas Toro Gordo
    Bello Natural (single)
    Cohiba Siglo VI
    Davidoff Yamasa (single)
Davidoff Nicaraguan Box Press Toro (single)
    Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature Natural
    Romeo Y Julieta Tubos No.2
    Arturo Fuente Anejo Reserva No.46
    Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

Quite an eclectic mix and the next purchase is likely to be the HDM Epicure No.2 as I need some more CC in my life! I'm in a fortunate position in that I have a couple of friends who spend are in the US every other month and they kindly pick me up a box of any NC I'm after if they can.

Below are the latest additions as of a few days ago:

Any recommendations or steers on worthwhile additions are welcome!

    Cheers,

    Tom

Looks like a broad selection there, enjoy!

Yes,a good selection already. Beyond this, I'd suggest trying a Bolivar (say, a Belicosos Finos) and a Ramone Allones (say, RASS or RASCC); both have good strength and flavour.

I sound like a stuck record, but you really can't go wrong with a Trinidad Reyes.

No I agree, and sure it was your good self that recommended them for me,[emoji106]

As a newbie I have really enjoyed the
El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme and a H. Upmann Half Corona,
          Both recommendations from the forum.

Thanks for the recommendations all, if I made a caveat and said I?m not a massive fan of pepper bomb cigars, would that change any recommendations?

Avoid Nicaraguans and don't buy any large Davidoffs

Por Larra?aga Petit Corona is also a fantastic cigar, especially with a bit of age.

Some of you may have seen on a different thread I was expecting a delivery and here it is...

Awaiting confirmation of the box dates for the Trinidad?s but the El Principe?s are dated March 2015. These should be good to go once they?ve had a month or so acclimatisation in the humidor shouldn?t they?

You let them acclimatise. Then try one and see!
                        .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Nice I’ve only ever had 2 El Principe before from a COTM and thoroughly enjoyed them. I’ve been meaning to pick up a box ever since. Trinidad is one of my favourite Marcas, the 2011 Reyes I have are smoking amazing right now. Great choices, happy smoking

El principe are great. Went through a box a few years ago but those look much darker than mine. Looks like a fine addition.
