Yes I did realise they're linked. Having not used Boveda before I thought the tolerance was tighter than 5% which I've just found out.

      Yeah, you'd think.

I've always relied on Boveda two-way packs to calibrate my hygrometers....but the salt method (done correctly) is just as accurate, IMO

Order finally arrived, going to let it rest for a week or two. Very mixed bag, all NC at the moment. IMG_20170622_202118256.jpg

There is the $ bill trick to check the seal. Simply open the humi , place a bill or a piece of paper hanging over the edges and close the lid . If you can pull it out, its not sealing properly. However, I wasn't convinced with that that trick. The other one is to open the lid and let it fall. If it slams shut then you know the seal has gone. If it closes with whumph then its good.

Last but not least, and if in doubt go to B&Q or hardware store and buy a roll of painters tape, and tape the edges of the humi. Unsightly to say the least but rest assured it works, I did it to an old humi I had lying around when I decided to get back into storing sticks, chucked in 2 Boveda 69% packs and the readings are bang on with a calibrated hygro. I moved the hygro into a humi that is in the process of being seasoned at the moment at 84% and again its bang on. No painters tape on this one

Tried the first 2 and all checked out so happy with that puts my mind at rest somewhat, thanks for the suggestions. Since filling it with the new order it's picked up a bit so might have been the empty space having some impact on it.
Also doesn't help that I can't leave it alone for more than a couple of days without wanting to check on it.

That's perfectly normal, compadre. The need to admire and monitor so much dicipates over time.....a looooong time!

A recent launch in Glasgow, think it was in May. Had to make a little sampler of these, for research purposes of course.

They are a Nicaraguan blend by Joya de Nicaragua from the Robert Graham stores named tobacco lords. Fitting with the history of Glasgow tobacco lords with the cigar names which is a nice idea. Very nice construction and aroma, price is also agreeable so they must be tested!
First one being lit tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it, mini review tomorrow if I get the chance.

                          So Thursday became Saturday.
Picked out the smallest to start. Glassford, a maduro petite Corona.
On inspection it's well made, slight flavour of wholemeal bread initially. Developed into a consistent earthy flavour paired up handsomely with my coffee. Little hits of pepper but only briefly.
Think I'm going to enjoy this brand Bring on the next one!

Got something to put away for a bit till winter rolls in. With the help of the good people on this forum I think this is a good mix. The punch punch though are a special buy I'll admit they have to be saved for a little longer/special occasion.
