Well, I really wanted to slow down last year when I learned that I might lose my job. Things are a little better now and it looks like we might survive another year but I am sure that I will not be able to keep this job until I can retire in 14.5 years because the only thing the owner is good at is making bad decisions and indept us more every year. I'm good at what I do but I work in a niche market and I don't think that I might find a well paying job in this market, at least not in France. I have some job offers from friends in the US but I really don't want to live in that country.
Putting money into the bank doesn't bring anything anymore. I got 0.4% interest early January for the money that I have put aside. This doesn't even cover inflation. So why not spend part of my money on cigars. If I need money I can move them rather fast and probably make more than a 0.4% benefit. Otherwise, well I can keep them in my stash and smoke some stellar cigars in the next few years.
That's scary @gojira, the risks of working in a niche market I guess. The economic downturn in the EU can't help either.
It is. That's why I got cold feet a few months ago and wanted to stop buying cigars. But then I thought, what the heck, if I lose my job I'll just sell my remaing comic books and try to open my own store, even though I planned to keep them for my early retirement. And if I need I'll just sell my high end and rare cigars as well.
I have one No.3 from 2000 left.. it will be a sad day when it gets fired up in Spain later in the year...

Nice. The No.3 is the only one I never tried. I have a couple of No.1s left, will have to revisit soon. Coming through Paris on your way to Spain? Or on your way back? I owe you a couple of pints.
