Nice find Neil.
Its weird that there's a Jan 1980 stamp on the bottom. In the UK, H&F used to stamp boxes when they released them into the shops IIRC. (In the 50s-70s they'd write coded dates in pencil)
Looking on CCW, the brand is listed as having been re-introduced in 1989..... But why have a 1980 stamp? I guess I'm wrong about the stamp but it's a bit odd!?!?

I might be misremembering!
I think the 80 means Aug 1990.
The 1 had something to do with when released from the bonded warehouse.
I'll see if I can find the article that Simon Chase wrote years ago which was great for deciphering H&F codes and old boxes

In think the format is
A/BB/C = 1/-8/0
A is the month it was released from the bond
BB is the month which in your case -8 means August
C is the final number in the year of release which in your case is 0 which makes it 1990
