• Cuba Haul

So, got back last week... Had an amazing time! I was going to make you all look at my holiday photos before I showed off my loot but, I'm doing this all on my mobile and can't quite be arsed!

Some background, we went to Holguin, playa costa verde... Which I thought was fantastic! Not huge amounts to do but Mrs. P enjoyed herself and beach was 'perfect' paradise.

You had the real Cuba all around you. The people were lovely and so resilient!

I'm also going to give a shoutout too Thomas Cook, the flights were impeccable... Not a bad word to say!!

    So, onto the smokes!!

The hotel had a shop with an ok selection and cigar lounge with limited selection (1 monte, 1 RYJ, 1 Bolivar and loads of machine rolled) all in tubes.

So I spent the first 5 days buying from the shop which was completely hit and miss. The humidor was not well maintained and the cigars were actually kept in an air conditioned shop, with open boxes. Only closed boxes in the humi... I had at least 3 appalling smokes and the rest were far from exceptional.

So far, not so good (on the smokes) but then we took a trip into the city and visit a cigar factory... WHAT... I yell... You can't take bags or cameras into the factory!!! So all those dudes and dudettes wolf whistling me to buy from them, went missed! 5 RYJ Churchill's for 20pesso... Bollocks!

Shop at the factory also understocked and loads of tourists buying 1 to take home! I needed 100!!!

The cigars I smoked for the rest of the trip all came from a massive well kept humidor in the centre. I bought what I liked and what I hadn't tried...

When it came to home time, I still hadn't made any box purchases so followed another members advice and went to the local Habanos... Just wow... I went twice for 1.5hrs!

I browsed, I smoked, I talked too and drank with the exceptionally helpful lady!

So, here are the pics and my choices...

RYJ Pyramides - i wanted aged and these appealed to me more than the monte Churchill at 100 pesos more!

Cohiba Maduro 5 - I love the box and smoked 3/4 Cohiba out there but loved these!!

    Stripes likes he box too...

Partagas Presidentes - I love partagas. I have a box of aristocrates ageing and 15 from last years...

I already had these but they are Nov 13 so, ageing well!!

A few mixed selections. Wanted a few trinidads, Monte 1 and the opens.... Cohiba V and the Quintero shown below. These were 1.6 peso each!!!! I really like them and they cost me ?14 here so stock up!

That's 100 smokes and a lot of nonsense above, so my apologies in advance if this gets moved... But it is new in the humidor!

I know there are no right or wrong answers, but genuinely keen to hear people's feedback on the choices.

All in all, I loved the holiday and my stash has nearly doubled!

    Thanks for reading

A great selection there npalfrey. I really wanted to get back to Cuba this year but, the flight dates were not suitable . So we're heading off to Mexico!
            Very jealous of your purchases.

Full compliments on everything there. Great stuff.

It it would be interesting to read the prices of respective boxes to compare against another member's visitation year. Of course, if you're ok with that? No dramas if if not
