Just scored myself a few treats for while the missus is away this week

    Jose L Piedra Petit Cetros

Hoyo De Monterrey Short Piramides Limited Edition 2011

    Montecristo Open Regata

Excited to try them, not really had any of these brands before. The JLP is in the search for a decent humidor filler/everyday smoke.

The HDM was a toss up between this and a Ramon Allones Petit Belicosos UK Regional Edition 2012 / 2013. Will get that next time 👍

The Open was only a fiver! Chatted up the lady behind the counter for a bit and she threw it in to try for less than 1/2 price! Hearn mixed reviews on this one so we shall have to see....

i really like the staff at my local, however I think it will be the last time I spend much with them. My past couple of cigars have been a little dry, and when I glanced at their hygrometers in the humis they were all over the place. Temp was all spot on at 70, but RH was anywhere between 52 & 61%. There biggest humi had 3 hygrometers, all with massive differences in RH%. I mentioned it, but they didn't seem too interested/knowledgeable. They said usually it's mold they have an issue with not dryness!!

Bit disappointed with these sticks now that I've got them home. Definately a bit dry (apart from the JLP).

whats the best course if action to re-humidify them? Throw a Boveda/DryMistat in with them for a week or two?

Was the H.Upmann Mag 50 as standard production or LE? I'd say ?30 was pretty steep for standard, even in the UK.

Brick and mortar shops are bloody expensive here I'm surprised they still do business really Simon with competing with ems on line prices

I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but I'm sure you need to start as low as possible and work your way up to minimise the risk of splitting the wrapper, anyone?

Standard. It was actually ?28.80, although only ?24.50 on their online store. They wouldn't match the price and with their humis being a bit dry I decided to leave it.

ive seen it at almost 1/3 that price online, and it just feels like I'm being stung!

I went into a shop in Canterbury early last summer and very politely asked if he'd be willing to match on line prices (he had siglo 1 at ?15 99!!!) and got a very curt no , the shop has since shut

I really like the shop, but even their online prices are steeper than elsewhere by 10-15%

It's a real shame when local shops of all types are forced to go out of business by the interweb, and I would much rather go in to a store for a chat and some gossip, but they have to keep up with prices.
