Hopefully I can work my way through some different brands and strengths to see where I end up.
I can tell you what they're not smoking Roy and that's Guantanameras. You need to hook up with some of the Scots lads to get some pointers on where best to spend your money. And give @Wigan some driving pointers!

If you are new to cigar smoking then Id guess the mild to medium ranges would serve you well. Some brands Id definitely recommend you try in order of my preference in that range- Hoyo de Monterrey, H. Upmann, Romeo y Julieta, Montecristo. All very good quality smokes. Not tried a Guantanamera, they have a reputation of being 'cheap and cheerful'. Although they're not highly regarded by aficionados they are the most popular Cuban in China apparently. Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto is a delicious and mild cigar.

Stick around here and you'll pick up loads of tips and recommendations, its a great place to learn about cigars.
