Got fed up bending over the scuba box, so went mad and built a 2 storey beasty,

Reckon i have room for close to 10,000 cigars now.
2 top of the range 600mm kitchen base units bult and sealed then lined with Honduran cedar (Cedrela Odorata).
Plan is for everday smokes to be in pigeon holes and the long termers to be in their boxes

Very ambitious design, muchacho. Keep an eye on the humidity from top to bottom. I'm dubious if crystals alone will do the job. I like the fans for circulation. Are they on a timer?

Haha! You forgot to tell the lad that they make electric humidifiers for units that size. I always fancied this one for a mid-size unit! The "Moist-N-Aire Electric Humidifier."

Cheaper? Maybe...but that's a lot of area to cover and crystals may or may not be up to the task. But that's for chico Jabba-Jabba to discover ...or not!

Hey el Perro! What's the impact of a constant breeze blowing over you finest puros?

ElPie: In my main wine-a-dor, I took out the humidity system 4 months ago and haven't put it back in. It's stabilised at a constant 67 on the bottom and 63 at the top ever since. I don't even need a humidification system as long as the wine-a-dor is full.
I'd imagine for a non-airtight humidor that is saturated with cigar boxes, the humidity should be kept stable enough with [the xikar breeze (TM)].

Chico Blu-Ballz: not much. have a timer set up like most towers. it blows air for 5-15 minutes every 2 hours. if the boxes are closed, it shouldn't be a difference. single cigars might lose oils if that's the case. I for one wouldn't risk exposed cigars but wouldn't be worried if there are closed boxes being blown on.

Addendum: I've been meaning to put the humidification back in. But every one of my humidors is now overfilled. I now use plastic bags and litter my full cigar boxes on the ground beside that. It's horrific!

Do not be fooled by my low post count I am a reprobate who has been around a while.
Fans are very low speed air movement, just enough to move the air very gently and stop the box getting moist spots.
No door seals as yet, but holding well, its in a very small cupboard that is very constant heat and humidity, plus there is a lot more Cedar than even in the best Humdors, its not a half mm veneer it 3mm thick lining and the shelving is the same.
One way of regulating the humidity is to Humidify the whole cupboard ?10 worth of kitty litter should do the trick 2 washing up bowls one below and one on top of units will give a very stable environment.

If I may suggest it, try the self adhesive door strip (tubular section) It's very soft and can be purchased to 'fill' different gaps.

I've never been able to get the KL below 69/70 which doesn't suit me. Stability was there but the RH, for me anyhow, was too high.

I've never messed with the kitty litter thing - didn't seem proper for fine puros. But apparently there are some who do.

So let me get this straight, the crystals are to increase (and maintain) the humidity in the unit and the kitty litter absorbs excess moisture and reverses the process in dry conditions, correct?
