OK, shit happens, mistakes get made. Wayne you'll be getting your dosh back call that a good result.
Martyn is correct, HU Noellas jars aren't exactly rare, and I doubt most people would be able to tell the difference between a 2009 and 2014 anyway. Simply locate some vendors that have them, ask them the date codes and you may be happily surprised with what you get.
Haha! Always gotta' be the voice of reason around these parts, don't ya'?
Well, we don't need your stinkin' kind around here, so move over and let Chico take over....at least he makes no sense with his long-winded wacky google posts, which is what we like around these parts.

That's what I get for helping you Mexicants.......
To be honest from someone who commented earlier about how they check the authenticity of every lot for auction he is left with some egg on his face, from the seal alone (which is upside down and in the wrong place) You can state that this box is after 2011 so not really any excuse. I thought since he owns a LCDH that stocks these jars in the UK he could have offered you one at a discount to compensate you. You could take your money and buy one from the LCDH in teddington he might even have some from 2009 knocking about.
Spot on with this post. Pretty sure I saw a thread where some had warned about the auction, yet Mitchell was quick to reply and put any claims or accusations to bed. I also believe it was warned that Mitchell and his team does not do the due diligence that is needed to authenticate every item in the auction. This is just a classic example of that being the case.
Thanks again everyone, it's just one of those things I suppose. Someone has copied & pasted & cocked up!
I had a bit of an email hockey session with Mitchell over the outcome, I did ask to keep the jar & get compensated either through money or cigars. He was very professional & declined, he was quite adamant it was keep as is or return. I tried!!
Overall though, it's part of the learning curve, my first experience of an online auction - probably my last too! The outcome is I get my money back, with the return shipping costs, so for me, win/win - sort of..
I'll put the funds into a box purchase, though I may have a look around for a jar because they do look great.
Cheers,
Wayne
Sorry to hear about your luck Wayne. Def a live and learn experience. As others have said, you can still find the 2013's around in plenty of shops and if you look hard enough you will probably find one from 2009 as well. I used to have three of these at one time. Wish I had an extra on hand to offer to you, but sadly I'm down to one jar myself. If I happen to come across one anywhere, I'll give you a heads up.
In the end as you said, good to see you got your money back, but quite surprised Mitchell didn't let you keep the jar at your winning bid price and just refund you the auction fee/expenses. I know he has done that in the past for me, but I no longer buy from Mitchell.

Nice thoughts, David . Way to outshine yourself on the board...
For me the '09 original release (of the re-issue) smoke far better than the later ones I have tried.
The '09's don't have the date stamped on the cedar in the jar, only on the large box that multiple jars come in . So if you want to know the code you need to speak to the vendor or see the master box.

A couple of replies.
For me as well. My word are the 2013s tannic, harsh, unpleasant, and dirty. Haven't enjoyed a single one out of the three i've tried.
Did not know that... I thought all jars came in their own laminated cardboard outer shells? Did the 09s have a weird Mastercase format?

They did come with cardboard outers but no box code. The box code aparrently was printed on the larger external box. This is what I was told when I enquired to my vendor regarding my jar. He gave me the code and I printed a label for my jar. ..but I'm odd like that [emoji85] [emoji86] [emoji87]

Perhaps it was just an odd jar out? Have heard cases (entire mastercases, in fact!) where boxes aren't stamped coming into distributors. Perhaps yours is just an odd one out. Might need to check into that to see...
