Cheers, R . Superiores have been a great deal and will be glad to see them in action again. Most of the LCdHs in Cuba are out of anything with a second band. Not the best things in the world... but Cuba is the cheapest place to get second banded cigars.

Thanks everyone for your help & advice.
I've emailed Mitchell for clarification with a picture of the lid cap showing the factory code & date. I won't comment further on that point, as up to yet the level of service from Mitchell / C.Gars as been exemplary.
I'm grateful for the help with decanting them or not, I'm going to go with just dropping one of the small Bovedas in with them & leave them in the jar.

              Cheers,
              Wayne

P to the J is exactly right. With my 4 jars, each one has a Boveda 69% large pouch located in the jar lid.

That jar is stunning Wayne. Mui jealous

                    Update time..
On the issue of the date discrepancy. I have spoken with Mitchell, who has agreed a full refund & return shipping costs covered too.
I'm gutted really, my first 'big ticket' item & a lovely looking jar too . I didn't realise the date thing until it was pointed out to me, I naively thought it was a 2013 jar, modelled on a 2009 release!
I did try & keep the jar, with compensation of money or cigars, as I'm still fairly new to the world of cigar smoking I didn't know if I would taste the difference between the years?
However, as a true professional, Mitchell would not relent, so we agreed on the return of the jar

I'd like to thank everyone who commented & assisted with my purchase. Just make sure you check everything, especially when spending a fair bit too.
I would also like to thank Mitchell for his speedy response & professionalism throughout the process. I will continue to be a customer of C.Gars & I may dip my toe into the auction world again one day!

                    Cheers,
                    Wayne

                        Cheers PeeJay
I'm gutted really, it's a great looking bit of kit & I'm quite sure the cigars would've been great too.
I doth my cap to Mitchell though, a true professional, the customer service of C.Gars is something to set the bar to.
Onwards & upwards, once I get the funds back, it's another purchase to be had!! Just don't tell mrs W

I wonder what they'll do with the jar now... That's actually a pretty big shame - all things considered

Why can't you keep it and get some costs back? The delivery and commission charge refunded as a goodwill gesture?

hard to put a price on it. significantly easier to do this rather than to bug the owner of the jar to provide some other thing...

If you sold me a box of Montecristo 4s for $800 and told me they were from 1978 but they come back and they're from 2008, what would we settle for? There'd be a lot of bickering at this point and it's hard to keep an anoynomous person in contact with someone else about what to give. On top of that, would you even trust that anoynomous person that what they provide is legit anymore??
So very much easier to just do the refund.

If it were me....I would probably keep the jar regardless of the year ( its hard to compare your example of 30yr difference when the item in question is 4 years difference) and be happy with the collision and delivery refunded; which I'm sure will be a decent saving.

Its all hypothetical as the outcome has already been decided. But just trying to work out why there were no other options.
