What is EMS? An easily identifiable mark of quality and authenticity, introduced by Hunters & Frankau, for Havana cigars sold in the UK.
There are a few threads where it is discussed but as I'm on my phone I can't find them now unfortunately but the debate revolves around whether EMS is actually worth paying the extra for
To bring back to topic - I had one of these before the Humour-dor, and found it was a little young and harsh but would like to try some again in 6 months or a year

I can't actually remember having a great EL that was worth the box buy until last year's Punch.
2012 was an okay year. The MC and Partagas were ok cigars... Apparently the H. Upmann Robusto is good - I can't say anything about it as I'ven't tried one yet.
The Hoyo Short Piramide was great because I got boxes of those for 75USD each. But other than that, they won't be missed. Cohiba 1966... Let's just not talk about that ever again, shall we? The Allones Extra tasted like a Non-Cuban.
2010 Saw the good Grand Edmundo. I liked em. Pricing is better than the 520 and is at least 3x better. Know what, I may actually want a box of these now... Partagas D was overpriced and sweet. Trinidad Short Robusto T... Absolutely hideous - pricing and taste. And amount of tobacco...
Don't even get me started on the shite 2009 ones that refused to burn or taste good. The Magnum 48 gets a pass from me for being an okay cigar. But it costs as much as a cab of Magnum 46s which smoke twice as long and taste better.
2008 saw the rise of the OK Montecristo Sublime. The money that these are fetching are absolutely not worth it. I have not had the D5 but the Cuaba LE was one of the silliest things HSA has done in a while.
2007. Fuck 2007 LEs.
2006 was a great year. Haven't had the Series D No. 3 but the Montecristo Robusto was a stellar smoke. Same with the Cohiba Piramides. Those I can actually justify the $40> pricing... Wish I could still find the Montecristo Robusto, actually.

Okay been thinking about how to go about bringing this up for a while and that post is close enough to point for me to say it.
Deep breath...The Bolivar Belicosos Finos is a bit crap. There I have said and I cant un-say it no matter what you all come back with. Yes its a good quality stick but its just really mild. Which in my book is another way of saying bland. I realise it may cause controversy but quite chuffed with myself for feeling like I have gotten far enough in my cigar journey to go out on a limb with this one............................

Kind of agree with you though as there is none in my humi and there not on the list, but not one I would class as bland

Got a couple left. Seen the cab at the weekend. They did at least look beautiful. In the batch I got one was plugged which may have swayed my opinion.

Wish I had enough disposable income to do this with a few other cigars........

They don't get stronger but in many peoples opinion (which is why it's so popular) it is a stellar smoke. I'll bring one along in the summer when we can smoke it outside the Academy, where i once smoked my first, gifted by Series Steve. I guess it's time the circle of life turn around
Sounds great. Have only had three, one of which was plugged so bad I got nothing from it. Giving one to MightyRed which leaves me one which I will smoke over the Christmas break.. Will make sure I leave it until I have been away from the fumes and dust of my workplace for a few days and make sure its the first smoke of the day on a fresh palate.Last edited by Wigan; 05-12-2014, 02:42 AM.
