Because I'm new and stupid and don't know any better!
And just to reiterate - I didn't buy them after I'd had a bad one - I bought them before I'd ever had one at all - It's been a learning experience.
Will wait a while til they've settled from travel before I make a decision.
Will probably keep one box and use the other for trades/bombs....

Cab cigars aren't packed in to boxes, so some say they humidify better when they're looser in cabs.
Is that right guys?

Seriously though bud. The Party shorts will be fab if left alone for now.
If it were me, I'd try one this month (6 months old), then again Feb 2015 (1yr old),
and then possibly every 3 months thereafter… Not what you wanna hear,
but I think they're too young at the mo.

When I found the cigars I liked… I thought of how many of these cigars I could have bought
with what I had just spent over a year+…

Funny enough - this has been the only Partagas I've liked to date…

That's odd - I quite like spice, but didn't get anything really - just tobacco.
It wasn't bad, it wasn't great - it was decidedly average...

About the same for me too, and after all the 'sampling' I discovered that most of them I didn't like anyway, and that 'Samplers' are generally a retailers way of getting shot of vitola that either too young or nobody likes.

A cedar cab more solid, provides a better environment for aging, the cigars go in with a round foot profile and aren't squashed in the box, it's also thought, though I don't know if it's true, that the cigars which go into cabs are hand selected in the factories as being the best from batches, hence the word 'Seleccion' on cabs.

Buying aged cigars is somewhat pricey!

I've a 2010 box Dunc, when I got them I thought them way too over-the-top in every aspect. I gifted one up to Rab who thought it was wonderful. The Lesson. We all appreciate things differently and a consensus on cigars is virtually impossible.

Just to note, I never purchased 'ready made' samplers, I always read reviews etc and created my own sampler sets.
I've not taken to a lot of cigars, only a select few. Whether the ones I smoked were not old enough, etc, I don't know.

If and when buying online or from stores etc, I'd get in to the habit of checking dates and box codes where possible.
If I smoke a great cigar, I'd like to know its year and box code so when I buy again I can try to match that cigar again.
You might have more luck buying slightly more aged cigars from abroad. Not to mention they'd be cheaper.
I can't believe how I'm more aware now of picking holiday destinations, and wanting to know where my friends holiday,
just in case something can be brought back
