A friend of mine came back from Benalmadena today. I gave him 120 euro's (?99 I think) to get me a mixture of whatever he could find.
I didn't have much faith as he doesn't really know what to look for. He said that the shop he went in didn't have much choice, but the lady in there recommended R&J number 3's.
Just over the 120 euro's.

The box was sealed, I just couldn't resist having a peak before taking a picture.



Unfortunately 6 didn't survive and are covered in mold D:
Bagging the others up before putting them in my humidor.


To be honest. 6 down out of 25 doesn't make me sad. I'm just glad he didn't get mugged off with fakes.

looks good , how bad was the mold ? as long as its only on the wrapper brush it off and smoke is my preference

A bit more than I'm comfortable with. Unless of course someone says this is ok lol but what's the chance of mold on the inside?

Should be fine wipe off and keep segregated but I would smoke it have had worse wiped it off and nothing came back just stored too humid

You sure it's not plume? Does kinda look like mould to be honest but if it wiped off easily without leaving a discoloured wrapper, crystal-like instead of hairy chances are it could be the oils solidified on the wrapper..

Greenish tint up close. It does brush off very very easy though.

Think I should freeze the dodgy ones? Does that kill off mold? Or is that a dumb question?

Plume is supposed to be only on older cigars really but I don't see why it couldn't appear.. Greenish tint = mould, but there are white varieties of mould too that is easily mistaken for plume.

You're supposed to lightly wipe with rubbing alcohol and distilled water mixture; I'm not sure if freezing kills the mould fungus remains dormant in those temps and will come back I think. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's the beetle infested cigars you need to put in the freezer. I had some cigars show little white spots the other week and wiped it off, my finger was left with a dry crystal-like substance and they were shining like snow in the light; I assume it was plume and I bloody hope so, plume looks like a spider web over your cigars I was told as opposed to the spotty appearance left by mould (even though again plume can appear as spots). It's such a confusing one to be honest but the fact you said it's greenish probably means mould mate.

Absolutely fine. Tubos and cardboard packaging suffers from white mould more so.

As long as there isn't any mould in the foot you'll be okay

I would also just brush it off, I wouldn't feel comfortable using any liquids

+1 brush off and perhaps pop back into some tubes that you know are not affected. They should be good to smoke. [emoji106]
