I find if you bury them in tubes in a tupperdore along with Tutankhamen, they smoke the best. but due to our stupid mortality, smoke em when you can.
honestly, a good box of Monte 4s should be ripe for the picking off the table, in one year, in three years, or in ten! Smoke em if you got em!
With regular productions, I know people smoking out a 25ct box within the year. and I know people who are saving boxes of monte 4s for 5 years before cracking them open. all personal.

For once I'll agree with Butters, always make sure you have yr on the box, then smoke the first. If you have a decent stock of other smokes, you could finish them in 3-5yrs. Decide which year suited you best & use that as a guide for the future. Which will work until your tastes change & you find yourself favoring more complex smokes. Then you can smoke the No4's as every week type cigars & save the better Havanas for celibrations / anniversary's ext. At least that's how it worked out for me in the first few of the Havana yrs.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.
