It's the food, something to do with minerals calcifying in the crap then when the organic stuff is all gone the calcified "frame" remains. The food has changed and so the poop changed. You see it sometimes but not often now. I guess some cheap food still has the magic mineral ratio.

Exactly, it's the calcium I guess. Hence you still see it but not as much.

It was his favourite treat, he used to gnaw through a cow femur until he got to the marrow and then he would lick every last bit of marrow he could get.

It's the calcium from the bones that goes white, dogs eat too well these days, they don't need all of that prime steak bollocks.

Hyena turds are also white due to the bone in their diet.
